Book Club Meetings Resume

We are happy to announce the resumption of the WPG Book Club meetings. The books for the first half of the year as selected by members of the club are as follows: February -- Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi wa Thiong'o; March -- Animal Farm by George Orwell; April -- Mr Happy and the Hammer of God by Martin Egblewogbe, May -- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Meetings resume in February 2014

womaninwhitecover The Book and Discussion Club will resume meetings on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Meetings take place once a month, typically from February to November. The first book we're reading is The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.

In March, the selected book is the poetry collection Testament of the Seasons by Mawuli Adzei. This will be followed in April by 1984 by George Orwell. Copies of The Woman in White and 1984 are available at the EPP Bookshop (Legon). The Legon Bookshop has copies of Testament of the Seasons.

The Poor Christ of Bomba

poorchrist The final meeting of the Writers Project of Ghana Book and Discussion Club (Legon) for the year 2013 is on Tuesday, November 26. The book for the month is Mongo Beti's "The Poor Christ of Bomba".

The Ghost of Sani Abacha

ghostofsaniabachcover The next meeting of the Writers Project of Ghana Book and Discussion Club (Legon) comes off on Tuesday, 29th October, 2013. The meeting is from 6.00 PM to 7.00 PM.

For the month of October, the club is reading Chuma Nwokolo's collection of short stories, The Ghost of Sani Abacha. Since this is a collection of 26 stories, it has been decided to highlight the following stories for the club meeting on the 29th of October, 2013: Billy Goat, Cousin Kashim, High Fidelity, My Las' Foolscap, The Fall of Phiri Bombai, The Ghost of Sani Abacha, Accidental Man, Orange Crush, Taste of Leftovers, The Roman Job Offer, and A History of Human Servitude.

A Streetcar named Desire

Last month, the WPG Book and Discussion Club featured Kojo Laing's Search Sweet Country. This month, we are discussing Malawian writer Tiyambe Zeleza's novel, Smouldering Charcoal. Copies of this book are available at EPP bookshops in Accra and at the University of Ghana bookshop.
