Writer for March - Ama Ata Aidoo
Writers Project of Ghana features as guest writer for the month of March 2012, Professor Ama Ata Aidoo, renowned Ghanaian writer and academic.

Ama Ata Aidoo has won numerous awards for her works, which include plays, novels, short stories, and poetry. She is also the Executive Director of the Mbaasem Foundation, an organisation dedicated to the development of African women writers.

Ama Ata Aidoo has had a long and distinguished writing career. Her first work, The Dilemma of a Ghost, was published by Longman in 1965 and was followed by several books. Ama Ata Aidoo’s novel, Changes, won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book (Africa) in 1992.

Her most recent publication, Diplomatic Pounds and Other Stories, is published by Ayebia Clarke and due to be launched in Accra in March, 2012.

This event offers the opportunity to meet and interact with Professor Ama Ata Aidoo. There will be a short discussion session after the readings.

The reading series is organised in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, Accra.
