Elizabeth-Irene Baitie is Author for August

Writers Project of Ghana and Goethe-Institut Ghana present Elizabeth-Irene Baitie as our author for the month and guest reader at our monthly reading at Goethe-Institut Ghana. She will read from her young adult novel, Crossing the Stream, winner of the Kirkus Reviews Best Children's Book of 2021.

Mrs Elizabeth-Irene Baitie is a clinical biochemist and the director of Patholab Solutions Medical Laboratory Ghana, which she founded 25 years ago. She is also a multiple-award winning author of eight books for children and young adults. Her novels have been published across three continents and have clinched several awards including the Macmillan Writer’s Prize for Africa, the Burt Award for African Young Adult Literature, and the Children’s Africana Book Award.

Her book Flying up the Mountain was recently published under the Norton Young Readers imprint. Elizabeth-Irene Baitie lives in Accra with her husband Rami Baitie.
