Writer for May - Kofi Akpabli

Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe Institute proudly present present an evening of readings with Ghanaian journalist and travel writer, Kofi Akpabli.

Kofi Akpabli is an author, teacher and journalist whose special interests are in tourism, culture and the environment.

Born in Accra, Kofi started writing in 1991 when a play he wrote won the first prize in a national play writing competition. The play, 'The Prince and the Slave' has been staged in Accra, Kumasi and at the Cape Coast Castle.

In addition to a number of short stories and poems, Kofi Akpabli is author of the books Tickling the Ghanaian, A Sense of Savannah Romancing Ghanaland and Harmattan.

In 2010 and 2011, Kofi Akpabli was voted CNN/Multichoice African Journalist for Arts and Culture, making him the only African to have won the CNN Awards back-to-back. In August 2010 Kofi also won the Ghana Journalists Association's Best Reporter for Arts, Tourism and Entertainment.
