Writer for November - Malaka Grant
In the final reading for 2013, Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe Institute present Ghanaian-American writer, Malaka Grant, as guest writer at our regular monthly reading series. The event comes off at the Goethe Institute in Accra on the 27th of November, 2013 from 7 PM – 8 PM.

Malaka Grant was born in Accra in 1978, and received her primary and secondary education in Ghana, attending Soul Clinic International, Ghana International School, and the Herman Gmeiner International College. She then went on to Hampton University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Arts.

The Daughters of Swallows (CreateSpace, 2013), Malaka’s first novel, is a fictional account of three women in Ghana who struggle with desire, ability, and promise in their lives. The author wrote this novel with the intention to “spark conversation and provoke thought, and… have people look at African women and their experiences in a wider [focus]...”.

The Daughters of Swallows is available on Amazon.com.

Malaka is also the chairperson for the Korle-Bu Family Fund (KBFF), a not-for-profit organization that raises money for under privileged patients at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. She blogs at www.mindofmalaka.com and www.adventuresfrom.com.

Do make time to join us for this interactive session with Malaka Grant.
