Wayne Johnston

Wayne Johnston is a painter, performance artist, writer and librarian from Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He is currently working on a project called "Ten Cities: The Past Is Present." This project involves revisiting sites in ten cities that have had a formative influence on his life.

The writing and drawings done during these visits explore the ways that past and present experiences can inform each other. The first performance of "Ten Cities" was at Dixon Place in New York City followed by a performance at Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto. The performance in Accra will be the third.

While in Accra he will be revisiting ten sites that he has not seen since 2006 and inviting ghosts from the past to interact with new experiences. His writing could be described as prose poetry, creative nonfiction or postcard stories. He invites you to share in the process of exploring how past and present experience engage with each other through the sights, sounds and smells of significant places.
