Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro with Sarpong Osei Asamoah
Writers Project of Ghana and Goethe-Institut Ghana proudly present a special edition of "Poetry Time at Goethe-Abansoro" at 7.00 PM on Wednesday 4th September 2024.
Sarpong Osei Asamoah's collection of poetry, "YAANOM" was recently published by the African Poetry Book Fund, and this month's "Poetry Time" will present the book and have a discussion on the poet's creative process.
The venue is the Goethe-Institut in Cantonments, Accra.
Sarpong Osei Asamoah is a Kumasi born post colonial pundit. He was a finalist for the Bernardine Evaristo Prize for African Poetry 2023, and is an alumni of Obsidian Foundation. He has read poems for the National Poetry Library - Southbank Centre UK. His work has featured in Aké Review, Lolwe, SAND Journal, Poetry Ireland Review, A LongHouse, Protean Magazine, Agbowo Magazine, and elsewhere including several anthologies as a contributor or poetry editor. He has worked at the Library Of Africa and The African Diaspora, Tampered Press and was a delegate at the NYU Africa Author's Symposium in 2023.He is the creative director and host of CanonPodcast; a podcast on Ghanaian poetry canon and poetics. He is a founding member and poetry editor of the Contemporary Ghanaian Writers Series. Asamoah is the debut author of "YAANOM" selected by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani for the New Generation African Poets chapbook box set.
