Writer for March - Joe Frazier

Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe Institute are happy to announce the start of our reading series for 2015. We present our first author for the year, Ghanaian columnist and novelist, Joe Frazier.

Joe Frazier (born Silva Kwabla Lumor) is the fifth child of cattle rearing and tobacco farming parents of Zemu in the southern Volta Region. Dispatched to Atiavi at the age of seven to be apprenticed to a master goldsmith, he still managed to attend school and proceeded to the University of Science and Technology where he obtained a BSc in Applied Biochemistry in 1971.

Mr Frazier joined Guinness Brewery as a Technical Management Trainee, rising to the rank of Technical Director, at which position he served on the board of Guinness Ghana Ltd for 10 years, retiring in 1999 to pursue training as a mediator in the lower courts of Ghana where he currently practices. He is a Non-Executive director of two public-listed manufacturing companies.

Joe Frazier writes My Blog, a weekly column for the Daily Graphic, and has over 400 articles and opinion pieces in print.

Joe Frazier's first novel, Blame not the Darkness was published in 2011, followed by Akora in 2013. A third novel, The Sissain Bridge is currently in press.

Joe Frazier is married with three children and lives in Kumasi.

Don’t miss this opportunity to interact with Joe Frazier. There will be a short discussion session after the readings. Copies of books will be on sale.
