Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro with Sabukie Osabutey and Taru Thompson
After a break in August, Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro returns this September with poets Taru Thompson and Sabukie Osabutey in a reading and conversation with Martin Egblewogbe. This edition of Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro is slated for Wednesday 14th September 2022, at 7 PM GMT at the Goethe-Institut in Cantonments, Accra.
Taru Thompson is a teacher, poet, spoken word artist and author. Born and raised in Washington, DC, he transitioned to the Big Apple for college at St. John’s University and just recently shifted homes again to the Big Easy. Taru discovered his love for poetry in college and has been writing since. He is a author of the collection Die or Live Trying, a compilation exploring education, race, religion, love and more.
Sabukie Osabutey is a Ghanaian writer and performance poet whose love for performance poetry has earned her literary recognition in Ghana and beyond. In 2019, she was honoured by the Russian Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow, Russia for her contributions to African literature. Her first poetry collection A Longed Desire became a headliner to her poetry career in 2018. Her latest collection of poetry, Healess Wound is her second poetry collection in which she deals with the themes of self-love, pain, healing and gratitude.
