Announcing Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra (2022) and Call for Proposals

Writers Project of Ghana and Goethe-Institut Ghana are pleased to announce the sixth edition of Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra. The festival will take place from Friday, 14th October 2022 to Sunday, 16th October 2022.

Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra is a three day literary arts festival featuring activities such as readings, panel discussions, performances, book launches and sales, literary prize awards and many more. The festival engages all literary forms such as fiction, poetry, spoken word, comic and graphic novels, creative non-fiction such as travel writing and literary blogging. Over the years, the festival has grown to include art talks, art and literary exhibitions, film screenings and many more. The festival also offers booksellers, publishers and independent authors to showcase and sell their books.

For the month of May, Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro brings you poetry and discussions with poets Asangba Reginald Taluah and Emma Ofosua. Moderated by Agana-Nsiire Agana, Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro is slated for Wednesday 11th April 2022, at 7 PM GMT at Goethe-Institut in Cantonments, Accra.

An Intergenerational Celebration of the Legacy of...

The AKO Caine Prize for African Writing, which is holding one of its 2022 Writing Workshops in Elmina, Ghana, is collaborating with the Writers Project of Ghana to present an evening of readings and conversation reflecting on the indomitable legacy of Ama Ata Aidoo as a writer, playwright, poet, and scholar. This public event will feature readings from novelist Bisi Adjapon, poet Ama Asantewa Diaka, and two writers selected from the AKO Caine Prize Workshops. The event will be held at the Omanye Aba Hall, AMA Headquarters, Accra on Thursday 28th April at 7.00 PM and will have Dagny Asase as moderator.

Author of the Month: Special Edition with...

The AKO Caine Prize for African Writing holds Writing Workshops as part of programmes leading to the award of the yearly prize for African writing. This year, one of the workshops is being held in Elmina, Ghana, with writers from Ghana and the West African sub-region.

For the month of April, Writers Project of Ghana and Goethe-Institut Ghana will feature readings from selected participants from the workshops. The event as usual is on the last Wednesday of the month, being the 27th of April, 2022. The venue is Goethe-Institut in Cantonments Accra. All are cordially invited.
